Only 13% of children are exclusively breastfed up to 6 months of age.
UNICEF is advocating for strong infant and young child feeding policies and the scale-up of proven interventions from pregnancy through the first two years of life.
These include maternal nutrition, early and exclusive breastfeeding, as well as improvement in the nutritional status of young children, those at risk of obesity and undernourished children, particularly children coming from the most vulnerable communities.
